Beach birthday

It was my birthday over the weekend and we decided to get away for a few days. I got a weekend trip away from my parents as a Christmas present! We went down to Bournemouth for the weekend which was so lovely.

The weather was so lovely, it was a bit cold but didn’t get any rain which was so nice. We ended up walking for 4 hours down the beach (with a few stops)

On Friday night we went to dinner at a fancy restaurant called The Crab. We don’t normally go all out for food but we thought as it was my last birthday child free we would. The food was absolutely amazing. I had Cod wrapped in prosciutto and Josh had a whole Crab which was incredible.

On Saturday we chilled at the spa at the hotel, I haven’t been swimming for a while and it was so nice to get back into the water however it was not easy to swim, I got out of breath very easily

On Saturday evening we went met up with Josh’s brother who lives in Bournemouth and we went to a cocktail bar for dinner. The bar was so good at making me mocktails all night. It was really interesting trying all the cocktails but with no alcohol in them. Some of the cocktails couldn’t be made into a mocktail, could you image a Long Island ice tea… it would just be coke!

Who to tell

People normally wait until 12 weeks to tell people but in our case we told everyone a week after we found out. Which was a shock to all our family.

I had this big idea in my head of how we would tell everyone we were having a baby but like our little bump it didn’t quite go the way we thought it would. I thought I could make little boxes for each grandparent to be with mugs and baby grows but we didn’t have time to prepare for that.

I took a test in the Sainsbury’s toilet on my lunch break and then sat in my car crying and phoned Josh on my lunch break to tell him I was pregnant. I had such mixed emotions about being having a baby, I was excited but so scared we hadn’t planned for a baby. I had a thousand questions going through my head. What if we weren’t ready? Didn’t have the money? Couldn’t provide a good life? A good mother?

The most important person to tell we my partners daughter! But I didn’t want to just tell her she was going to be a big sister I wanted it to be something she would remember for a lifetime.

We had booked to go to Lapland UK just before Christmas and I thought it would be the perfect time to tell her there. With how amazing Lapland are you get to personalise your visit, so we decided who better to tell her than Santa! 🎅🏻

Where it all started

So a little bit about my story. Me and my partner Josh meet just over 3 years ago, we got engaged November 2020 and bought our first house in January 2021.

We were planning our wedding for September 2022 however our unexpected bungle of joy decided to change that plan. All though it took a few weeks to get past having to change our wedding and having a baby it has been an emotional and exciting time.

We found out I was pregnant at 17 weeks, long story short was I was on the pill and didn’t know but the dates line up that I got pregnant just after having my first COVID-19 vaccine. Who would have thought it. But we decided it’s never the right time just the right baby and this little girl wanted to be here and we couldn’t be happier.
